Investigation report: Fatal collision at rail crossing in southern Ontario

Today, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) released its investigation report (R25T0177) into the July 2025 fatal collision involving a Canadian Pacific Railway Company freight train and a pickup truck at a rail crossing in the Township of Cramahe, Ontario.

The TSB conducted a limited-scope, class 4 investigation into this occurrence to advance transportation safety through greater awareness of potential safety issues. See the Policy on Occurrence Classification for more information.


The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
