On , at approximately 0410 Eastern Daylight Time, while proceeding eastward at 60 miles per hour, approaching Brockville, Ontario, Canadian National freight train M-310-31-09 derailed 26 cars at Mile 127.52 on the Kingston Subdivision. The derailed cars included 13 residue tank cars which last contained aviation fuel (UN1863). A small amount of product was released. There were no injuries.
On , at approximately 1735 Eastern Standard Time, passenger train P60321-05, travelling westward, struck a northbound vehicle at a private crossing at Mile 120.18 of the St-Maurice Subdivision. One of the vehicle occupants was fatally injured, two others were seriously injured and another sustained minor injuries.
On 11 June 2014, at 1530 Mountain Daylight Time, eastbound Canadian National freight train A41851-11 derailed the last 20 cars at Mile 202.3 of the Slave Lake Subdivision in Faust, Alberta. The last 17 cars were residue tank cars that had last carried diesel fuel (UN 1202). There was no release of product and there were no injuries. Approximately 1200 feet of track was damaged.
On 23 February 2014, a Canadian National yard assignment, controlled by a remote control locomotive, was travelling with 25 loaded cars on the “freight track” service track of the Montreal Subdivision in Montréal, Quebec. At about 0005, the yard assignment passed a stop signal and collided with train Q12111-21, which was travelling on the north track. Both trains, as well as the tracks they were travelling on, were damaged. There were no injuries.
On , at 0052 Mountain Standard Time, westbound Canadian Pacific train 205-25 derailed 15 cars at Mile 82.1 on the Laggan Subdivision, near Banff, Alberta. The derailment destroyed the bridge over Forty Mile Creek and cars loaded with fly ash, soybeans and lentils were breached, spilling product into the waterway. No injuries were reported. However, a crew member sought medical attention for fly ash inhalation.
On 06 November 2014, at about 0115 Mountain Standard Time, eastbound Canadian Pacific Railway freight train 374-230 derailed 17 empty covered hopper cars at Mile 23.40 of the Crowsnest Subdivision near Pearce, Alberta. About 1000 feet of the main track was damaged and an additional 600 feet of the main track and of an adjacent storage track was destroyed. Two empty gondola cars in the storage track were struck by the derailing train, resulting in their derailment. There were no injuries.
On 18 November 2013, Canadian National Railway freight train L586 41-18 was switching into the Murphys interchange track at Mile 61.0 of Canadian National Railway's Tisdale Subdivision, near Tisdale, Saskatchewan. At about 1818 Central Standard Time, during the hours of darkness, while reversing westward at approximately 12 miles per hour, the train struck and seriously injured a conductor trainee. The employee was transported by ambulance to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries during transport.
On , at approximately 1727 Central Standard Time, Canadian National freight train G84042-09, travelling eastward on the Fort Frances Subdivision, derailed 40 loaded grain cars at Mile 73.6, near Nickel Lake, Ontario. There were 2 separate groups of derailed cars, 12 cars in one group and 28 cars in the other. Several of the derailed cars ruptured, spilling grain. There were no injuries.
